The Partial Figure: Visualizing HIV / AIDS
In observance of World AIDS Day, interdisciplinary scholar Theodore (Ted) Kerr explores historical and contemporary attempts to visualize the ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis, moving between art, mass media, and medicine. With a particular focus on the male torso—long an important canvas in Western culture—Kerr will present new work on its central role in early AIDS visual discourse.
